This is a build log of building an experimental airplane. We are building a Sonex with plans number 1362.
“We” are Dan and Tim. We are both private pilots and engineers working at the same company. Dan is an electrical engineer (the poor sap) and Tim is a mechanical engineer (glorious). We began our collaboration of building an experimental aircraft in the fall of 2009 (OMG, has it really been that long!! – Tim in 2018). We both have wives, kids, and a multitude of other commitments to distract us from the approximate 2000 hours (or more) that is required to go from raw aluminum and rivets to a working flying machine.
Dan has a lot of building and carpentry experience, a real craftsman. Tim has a lot of Atari and D&D experience. There are a lot of skills we are learning especially in sheet metal.
